Consider cut-offs, the summer staple, but don’t think daisy dukes. Think Saturday morning in the old neighborhood and somebody’s grandfather is mowing the front yard in old worn-out suit trousers reborn as cutoffs…the classic men’s pant, cut and cuffed. We here at Thom Dolan firmly support this class of cut-offs as do these ladies. Our version, Pappy’s Cut-offs from the SS12 line is freshened up with the classic clean button-down Thom Shirt.
…and so we welcome ourselves to the world of social media, which apparently is here to stay. Our hope is that the images, inspirations and ideas you see here which ultimately funnel down into the collection, will bring us all a little closer together. Tho’ we’d like to hang with every THOM DOLAN girl and occasional guy, we know we’ve got work to do so we’re hoping this is a way to stay in touch.
These images are from the SS12 line currently available at a fine retailer near you (or not.) The look book in it’s entirety is available on our website THOMDOLAN.com. We took our fresh faced girl and trekked out to Rockaway beach for the backdrop and tone of said collection. It’s the idea of a small town girl who leaves behind her clean and highly moral world. She packs a bag — it’s contents being a window into her previous life, and finds herself in the ultimate city/beach mash-up of far Rockaway. The collection is inflected with nostalgic irony, which is a clever way of saying that field hockey, school uniforms and Sunday’s best all creep in. Old things reappropriated and made new. She is prim, proper, messy and ready for adventure.
